Our Sustainability Journey
The Statement is born out of a love for people and the planet. We recognize and embrace the responsibility that we have as a business to take actions that help protect the Earth and its living beings.
Our commitment to sustainability is ingrained in every aspect of our business. from how we make our products to the organizations we work with. We strive to make a meaningful impact and want our customers to feel good about choosing The Statement for their health and our Planet.
A Proud Tree Canada Supporter
We've partnered with Tree Canada, a national non-profit organization dedicated to planting and nurturing trees nationwide, creating healthier and more resilient ecosystems and communities.
Our skincare products are infused with the natural goodness of trees, and we're so grateful for the benefits they provide. Working with Tree Canada allows us to give back to the beautiful planet we call home and brings us closer to our goal of achieving negative carbon impact.
We’re committed to a minimum purchase of 2000 seedlings, with 500 already under our belt. By 2025, we aim to reach 10,000 tree seedlings purchased from Tree Canada.
Want to get in on the action? For just $5, you can purchase a seedling from Tree Canada on our website. Your donation covers the cost of the sapling, the maintenance work until it’s ready to be planted, and the labour to plant it.
Every little bit helps, and together we can make a powerful impact on the health and beauty of the world around us.
Packaging with Purpose
Your next Statement order delivers more than just exceptional skincare - it’s a sustainable package that’s kind to our planet!
We’ve taken the time to consider every detail so your unboxing experience is as eco-friendly as possible. Our minimal packaging is made of 100% recyclable plastic and glass, and we’re on track to ditch single-use plastic by 2025.
We use boxes made of recycled corrugated board and printed with vegetable dye. Inside, you’ll find biodegradable honeycomb packing paper and biodegradable packing peanuts.
Our product bags are 100% biodegradable and even break down if wet! Just pop them in your garden, composter, or green waste bin, so they can return to the Earth and avoid landfills.
We also work with Sendle, a 100% carbon-neutral shipping company, to deliver your beauty goods as sustainably as possible.
The Re-State Club
Embracing a circular economy is key to a more sustainable future. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce The Re-State Club. The Re-State Club is our way of reducing waste and giving our packaging a second chance at life.
Our Re-State Club lets you send back our empty skincare bottles for recycling and reuse, at no cost to you. We work with the Zero Waste Program through TerraCycle to help make this happen.
When your shipment from The Statement arrives, hang on to the packaging to reuse for sending back your empties. Once you’ve got 4 empty bottles, you can request a free shipping label through our website. We’ll email you the label, which you can stick onto the original packaging and drop in the mail.
At the moment, The Re-State Club is only available to Canadian customers, but we’re working hard to make it available internationally, so stay tuned!
Intentional Ingredients
We’re all about wholistic, skin-trinsic goodness at The Statement.
Every ingredient we use has a healthful purpose - for you and the Earth! We say no to fillers, fragrances or harmful ingredients, and we’ll never settle for less.
We use organic ingredients wherever possible, and most of our products are USDA organic-approved. Any non-organic ingredients in our products are only included because of their benefits for your skin, not because it’s cheaper for us. We’re cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny certified, and proud of it.
We’re all about keeping it transparent and educating you along the way. Our glossary gives you the lowdown on every ingredient we use across our entire range. Check it out here and get ready to make a Statement with your skincare!
Why USDA Certification Matters
As we set out to create a personal care line that is clean, healthy and friendly to the environment, we decided to adopt the USDA Certification for many of our organic skin care products. This decision was driven by the USDA National Organic Program's (NOP) rigorous standards, which surpass those of other certifiers, ensuring our products are genuinely organic. This is crucial in a market flooded with toxins and misleading, greenwashing claims.
Given Canada's lack of government-regulated beauty product certification, we opted for USDA certification, the only government-standardized system ensuring personal care product safety. We believe that this is so important for the products we’re putting on our faces and bodies.
The NOP oversees an organic product's lifecycle, including land certification, cultivation, harvesting, processing, storage, formulation, and packaging. Compliance is ensured through annual or surprise inspections, maintaining the product's integrity. For a product to bear the USDA seal, it must contain 95%-100% USDA Organic certified content; and remaining ingredients must be NOP-approved. Substances or methods excluded by the NOP include synthetic preservatives, genetically modified materials, parabens, phthalates, ionizing radiation, pesticides, fertilizers and many more.
We are proud to provide the world with high-quality, healthy and effective organic personal care products…The Statement we live by!
