Shipping & Duties Update
At The Statement, we believe skincare should inspire wellness, not worry. That’s why we’re committed to transparency and care in every part of your experience with us, from the ingredients we choose to the way your order reaches your doorstep.
A New U.S. Duty Requirement
As of August 29, 2025, the United States has suspended its duty-free “de minimis” threshold of US$800 for all shipments entering the country. This means that every order, regardless of value, will now be subject to duties under U.S. Executive Order 14324.
For Canadian shipments into the United States, the current duty rate applied under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) is 35% ad valorem.
What This Means for You
While this change is outside our control, we want to care for our community the way we always have. To keep things simple and stress-free for our U.S. customers:
We will be covering the 35% duty on your behalf.
Your price at checkout is the final price, no surprise fees when your package arrives.
Our Commitment to You
We know many brands respond to changes like this by shifting fulfillment to third-party warehouses in the U.S. That’s not us. For now, we’ve chosen to continue personally packing every single order here in Canada, the same way we always have. It’s our way of keeping The Statement personal, intentional, and loyal to the people who have supported us from the very beginning.
We’ll continue to review this situation closely, and if adjustments become necessary, we’ll share updates here first.
A Note for Our Community
For Canadian customers: Duties and taxes are still unlikely if your order is under CAD $200, but we cannot guarantee it. International customers (outside the U.S. and Canada) are responsible for checking local import fees before placing an order.
If you decline a package due to duties/customs and it is returned to us, a new shipping label will need to be purchased in order for us to reship that same package. If you prefer to abandon your order, a 30% restocking fee will apply and shipping fees are non-refundable. Additionally, there will be a $14 shipping fee ‘charge’ if your original order was shipped with a free shipping promotion.
